A denim durag with two long ties, cut close to the head: a folded band around the base, a shallow domed crown seamed in sections, and a pointed tail at the back. The ties come off the sides, each about as long again as the crown is wide, rolled and topstitched and meant to be knotted behind. The denim is a mid indigo, overlocked in blue at the interior seams, with one panel at the back sitting a shade lighter than the rest. The crown has gone through in several places, the weave opening into pale whiskers and, in two spots, into holes. What shows through them is the lining: an ivory cotton printed in sepia line-work, a map with state names set into it - OHIO and New Jersey both readable - so the print reads out through the openings.
The label reads X The After School Club Co., a large X set against the name on a cream woven tag stitched inside the band. There is no size or care label. Listed as one size.
Condition: the blown-out crown is the design, not damage - the piece was built from denim already worn through, with the printed lining meant to read out through the openings. Two holes are open through to the lining, one on each side above the band, each roughly a thumbprint across with frayed white weft around the edge; a thinner worn patch sits on the top panel and a fourth at the back, with loose threads hanging from two of them. Nothing has torn at a seam. The band and both ties are sound with no fraying at the tips, the lining is intact and clean, and the stitching throughout is unbroken.
