A closed-toe leather sandal from Kenzo's Fall/Winter 2012 collection, the second season under Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. Bordeaux leather throughout with a glossy black leather cap laid over the toe, and a front that laces on black cord running between two rows of antiqued brass rivets rather than through eyelets. A wide leather instep strap folds over the throat and is stitched down through a box cross, the quarters are cut away in open slots, and the heel is open behind a strap that closes on a domed brass stud on each side. The whole thing sits on a heavy black Vibram lug outsole with a moulded wedge under the arch, which is what makes it a hiking boot cut into a sandal rather than a sandal made chunky.
The label reads SANDAL M252, 43, Mat: CUIR, Col: BORDEAUX, Sml: GOMME, H12 M252 18 4 43,0 on the box end under www.kenzo.com, with a retail sticker beneath it reading MEN'S KEN Show Sandals M252 FW12 BORDEAUX 43 $820.00. Listed as a US 10.
Condition: the leather has softened and shows fine creasing across both vamps and around the folds of the instep straps, the black toe caps have light surface scuffing, and the cut edges of the heel straps are slightly rough where they have rubbed. The Vibram sole has only light wear and the lugs are still square. Comes with the box.
