A wide belt in chestnut croc-embossed leather, with the buckle covered in the same hide, squared off and edge-stitched, and a matching keeper alongside it. The stitching is a contrasting cream, run around the buckle, around the keeper and down both edges of the strap, and the prong is brass. The colour is not flat: the emboss holds a darker tone down in the scale lines and a warmer red-brown across the raised faces.
Stamped inside: GENUINE LEATHER MADE IN U.S.A. and MEDIUM, with a faded gold CLASSIQUES FOR NORDSTROM further along. Classiques was Nordstrom's own label before the line became Classiques Entier, which Nordstrom registered as a trademark in December 1993, so the belt is at least early-1990s and American-made. Marked MEDIUM; listed as one size.
Condition: the finish is crazed - a fine network of surface cracks running through the emboss along the strap and across the covered buckle. It reads as age in a coated finish rather than damage, and the leather underneath is sound and still supple. A grey rub mark on the suede back near the buckle end, and two small dark specks further along. Every hole is intact with no stretching, and the buckle is firm.
