Akila's Apollo run through the Inflated treatment: the soft-square panto shape rendered in extra-thick cellulose acetate with every edge rounded off, so the frame reads as blown up rather than simply built heavy. Akila is an independent Los Angeles house, and the Inflated series takes silhouettes already in the line and swells them, after Erwin Wurm's Fat Car sculptures. This is the havana colourway, a warm amber tortoise mottled over near-black, with flat green lenses, a low notched bridge and a two-pin silver rivet standing in the acetate at each hinge. The Akila signature is etched into the lens.
The label reads 44 28 145 CE APOLLO INFLATED inside one temple and AKILA inside the other, with the style code A 2205 along the outside. Listed as one size.
Condition: no flaws found. The acetate is glossy and unmarked and the green lenses are clear.
