US Navy issue bib overalls in a tan cotton gone soft and uneven with age, stencilled U.S. across the bib. Adjustable webbing braces over metal hardware, a buttoned patch pocket on the chest, side openings at the waist, and ties that gather the cuff at the ankle. Cut enormously wide - these were made to go over a working uniform, not over nothing, so the volume is the design rather than the size.
The label reads Navy Department, contract NXsx 36978, SMALL. The NXsx prefix is the Navy Department contract format collectors use to authenticate wartime-era issue, and the stencil and hardware are consistent with it. We list the size the label gives, which is SMALL - but be warned that it is a Navy small, and the waist opens to roughly 44 inches around. It will read oversized on almost anyone.
Condition: inspected in hand and no flaws found - in very good shape for its age.
